Happy Weekend!

Hello Friday, old friend! Hope everyone has a great weekend filled with fun Halloween activities. Going to a Halloween party myself, should be interesting! See you all back here next week, xo.

SCD on Style Me Pretty

And we’re back! Italy was great, such a treat to get away for a bit. And let’s be honest- the food made the trip. I was so excited to come back and see Kwanji and Howell’s wedding featured on Style Me Pretty! The amazingly talent Ara, from Rock Paper Scissors Events styled this wedding from head to toe with vintage cinema elements while still keeping within Kwanji’s yellow and gray color scheme. Ara has a keen eye for details and style so when she asked me to help with this wedding, I jumped at the chance. Here are a few shots from the feature, you can see the full wedding here

Start the countdown…

I have some serious ants in my pants this week. On Saturday, I am skipping town for a week and going to ITALY! It was a pretty last minute trip but I couldn’t be happier we decided to go. It was a busy summer so I can’t wait to kick back, drink good Italian wine and above all mangia, mangia, mangia! I was lucky enough to study abroad in Florence so hopefully some of that B rate Italian is still kicking around somewhere…

We’ll be going to Milan, Cinque Terre and a small village called Cuggiono. This vacation is more about the culture so lots of hanging out and relaxing. Can. Not. Wait.

Delicate & Lovely :: Lucia & Ken

I feel so lucky to have worked with Lucia and Ken on this project. From day one Lucia was the nicest, sweetest and most easy going bride. She had great ideas but was also very open to the process. She fell in love with the watercolor // calligraphy collaboration with the ridiculously talented Love, Jenna. We used that as our baseline but then added some fun bits & pieces to compliment the idea. Jenna’s calligraphy is, of course, the star of the invitation. It’s plays really nicely off the soft, delicate watercolor. The ombre liner was hand painted and really makes everything cohesive. All four pieces of the invitation suite went inside the glassine bag to keep everything together. We created a custom logo for the glassine bag and return address. It was created based on the couples save the date picture. {it was taken minutes before Ken dropped to one knee!} The back of the map acts as a guide to Amagansett with a sentence or two about each location on the front of the map. I love how this invitation suite evokes the feeling of beach culture without being so obvious “beach.” The entire process was a pleasure.

{stay tuned for Ken & Lucia’s day of elements- so pretty and creative!}

Letterpress in the Kitchen

Here is a cute little bit to start your week off with. One of my favorite clients from this year wanted to order his future wife some nice letterpress cards for his wedding day gift to her. {cute idea!} They are both big foodies plus she loves to cook so we created a cute kitchen themed card for her. We kept the design really clean with graphic kitchen icons along the bottom. The simple black & white with the edge painting makes the stationery very fresh and modern.  Happy Monday!

SCD for Paperless Post

It’s a familiar routine. You’ve been recipe scheming, developing a signature cocktail and perfecting your guest list for weeks. In the midst of all this activity, plans to pick up stamps and post your invites have been neglected. You realize your event is a week out as you glance at your calendar, shout a few choice expletives and feel a sinking sense of disappointment that your stylish invites may end up being a few sentences dashed off in a boring old email. Not so fast. Thankfully, Paperless Post exists.

Paperless Post is helping to bring the classic feel and personalized touch of custom stationery to the digital age by offering paperless announcements and invitations,  personalized to suit your needs, without sacrificing an iota of style or feeling the empty sense that your event details are just being plugged into a boring digital template. They have created and refined their own line of stationery and have taken the concept even further to pair with renowned designers like Enormous Champion, Mr. Boddingtons’s Nephew, BluePoolRoad and Linda & Harriett and now Swiss Cottage Designs. Paperless Post understands that the art of the letter doesn’t need to be lost in this modern age of online everything.

What I love most about Paperless Post is their commitment to upholding and respecting the personal feel and aesthetic draw of fine stationery and their refusal to think that simply because we’re in the age of bandwidth instead of paper stock, doesn’t mean that we have to sacrifice any of our taste. When they approached me about creating a line for them, I could not possibly have said “YES!” any faster.  I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ve created over 35 custom designs for the fall/winter season. While my deep love for paper goods, the tactile richness of letterpress and obsession for adorable stamps will never leave me, you have to admit: stationery in the digital age never looked so good!

Read On Sailor

I came into some good book karma last week which always makes me happy. First, I walked into our local bookshop for a birthday card and walked out with two new books in under 5 minutes. There are times when I spend hours searching for the perfect book and come out empty handed so to find not one but two intriguing reads in 5 minutes was fantastic. Then one of my favorite new clients sent me two books in the mail {thanks Megan!!} one of which I just started this weekend. And lastly, I earned enough points at my local bookshop to chose a free book from their selection. I mean- how great is that? I am stocked up on reads for the Fall and for my upcoming vacation to Italy- so excited!

Farm Fresh :: Kelly & Sean

Working with Kelly and Sean was like working with your brother and sister. Right away we were cracking jokes and making fun of one another- it was very refreshing. Kelly and Sean are getting married in Maine and are making it a big ol’ party. They really wanted the invites to feel simple and clean yet creative and reflective of who they are as a couple. We used the brown kraft bag to hold everything together so it sat neatly in the envelope. We wanted to create a “seal” that they could use throughout their wedding day but we didn’t want it to feel like a stuffy monogram. We ended up using an illustration of their dog, Angel, and creating a cool linked initial icon at the bottom. Each bag was hand stamped with a custom rubber stamp. For the RSVP, I purchased some vintage seed packet artwork to help drive home the “farmers’ market” vibe we were going for. On the back, we had a standard RSVP post card for guests to send back. For the rehearsal dinner invitation, we wanted it to feel like it was written out on a chalkboard. I hand wrote everything with a graphite pencil {to get a better texture} and messed around with it in photoshop to create the board effect. I love the fresh simplicity of this invitation suite. It also really makes me want to hit up a farm stand for some corn.
