Around the World

I’ve always loved the idea of pinning your travels. I’m talking about actual pinning here… with real push pins. Wild, I know. {I’m sure Pinterest is a more popular way to do it now!} I think it’s such a romantic way to keep track of where you’ve gone and where you’d love to go. One of my clients had the idea to create a bridal shower invite inspired by the same concept. How fun is this design with their initials acting as the travel pins? Brilliant!

Penmanship 101

A quick snap from a recent job where we used lots of hand lettering. The final product might look like one, lovely piece but the process is anything but. I always end up writing the word or phrase several times before I find the right one. And even then I normally pull bits and pieces from one another to construct the perfect line of copy. It’s a process but I love the end result. Excited to share this one when it’s ready!

On the radio

Working in a new office feels a little like the first week of school. You want to make sure your supplies are in order, that your desk is always clean, you take extra care with all your notes and your handwriting looks nice and sharp. It’s actually kind of fun! My number two intern and soon-to-be Mr. SCD bought me this radio as a new office prize. I’m pretty in love with it. There is something so reassuring about listening to the radio with it’s news updates and stories. At one point last week, I even busted out some tin foil to try to get a station to come in. Just like the old days…

Summer Haze

We are officially in the summer months, how did that happen? I can’t thinking about long weekends at the beach back home in Massachusetts, Cape Cod potato chips and some Beach Boys on the radio. Here is to summer right around the corner!

SCD in June’s BRIDES

I am a little obsessed with the new look of BRIDES magazine. Last month {May} was their debut issue with the new look. With a new editor in chief, BRIDES it’s a little taller, a little cooler, a little sleeker and overall a completely fresh take on the classic mag. I am so pumped to be included in the June issue! Our watercolor invite was included in the “get the look” section of their Real Weddings. Very cool! Thanks to all the *awesome* ladies at BRIDES for including us- we are totally humbled.

Throwback Style

The lovely ladies from Delphine and Oh So Beautiful Paper hosted a stationery party last night in the Theater District. It’s always so fun to mix with other stationery folk and talk shop. I met some goodies last night and had myself a pretty nice night out! On my way there, I passed the Barrymore Theater where they are playing “Death of a Salesman”. I love the 50’s inspired typefaces and colors they are using for the signage. It really evokes the feeling of an era. New York certainly can be a rough place to live but I love these little spurts of inspiration you see when you least expect it.

Cute as a Button

I am on a big button kick these days. This probably has a lot to do with growing up in the 80’s and watching a lot of Punky Brewster but I digress. I am trying to find unique ways to incorporate buttons into different jobs, which has been very fun. The client below is using these buttons as a way to distinguish her guests from regular bar patrons at her welcome drinks, brilliant!

AHOY

And it’s Friday! Have any fun weekend plans? My Bob Vila-esque father is coming into town to help us fix up the new apartment. I’ll also be painting my new office this weekend, I’m so excited {literally, I couldn’t sleep}! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, do something great.
