Inspiration Station: Charlie’s

When I was in New Zealand I fell in love the natural juice company Charlie’s. Right away I was attracted to their amazing packaging. Paul would find me in the juice aisle examining each bottle like a total weirdo, but I couldn’t help it. The labels are almost all hand lettered, which I love for many reasons. They are also pretty slim in size which really lets the bright, bold colors of their juices shine through. With the start of the New Year, lots of new businesses are blossoming and logos are being born so Charlie’s is a great inspiration for what good branding looks like. Well done Charlie’s, wish we had you here in Brooklyn.

The Real World: Swiss Cottage

Ah yes, Monday… hello old friend. I thought it might be fun to share a picture one of our London pals sent me over the weekend. She was spending some time in Northern London and stumbled across our namesake: good ole’ Swiss Cottage and it’s lovely tube stop. Seeing this makes me nostalgic for my days in the ‘hood! I miss many things but I certainly don’t miss my scary apartment where we had to keep the light taped on to keep the bugs out… but that is a story for a different day. I am feeling 2013 might require a SCD pilgrimage back to the motherland for some inspiration and seeing old friends wouldn’t be so bad either. Have a great week everyone!

New SCD website!

I am one of those people who really likes the New Year and New Year’s resolutions. I try to make them every year and check in every few weeks to see if I’m sticking to them. It’s sort of sick how excited I get about the changing of seasons; I just really love the concept of new beginnings and fresh starts. Right before we left for the year, I worked on giving our old SCD website a little makeover {sort of like that scene in CLUELESS without the red hair dye}. I had been wanting to tackle this project for awhile and the bit of downtime I had before the wedding was the perfect time to sneak it in. We freshened up our logo a bit, got a new gallery for all of our custom projects, gave the blog some TLC and tightened up our packaging. It’s always such a special thing to receive a package that holds something you’ve been waiting for, when it’s beautifully wrapped it’s that much better! Have a look around our new digs.

Inspiration Station: New Zealand

And we’re back! What a month; the wedding was amazing and our trip to New Zealand was pitch perfect. We had the most incredible experiences and I can’t stop smiling. But, I kind of missed this old blog and it feels great to be back! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season and are enjoying 2013- it’s shaping up to be a good year.

While in New Zealand, I kept finding inspiration everywhere. My favorite find: this magazine– I’m obsessed! I thought it might be fun to start the year by sharing a few snaps I took of different things I felt inspired by. Seeing these again makes me wish I was right back in the sun drinking a glass of Pinot Noir…

See you in 2013!

Hard to believe that the time has come: I’m getting hitched this weekend! It’s been quite a year; from planning a wedding to working with some of the best clients a designer could ask for, life has been so full and exciting! We’ll be closing down for the rest of December to celebrate the wedding and head out on our honeymoon {helllloooooo New Zealand!}. We will be opening back up again on January 2, ready for business! In the meantime, feel free to email if you’re looking for more details on a project. Our lovely assistant Ally will be holding down the fort while we’re gone and will get back to you ASAP with further information.

Thank you so much for stopping by our blog! I am excited to get back and to start cranking on all the big ideas we have for 2013. We’ll also be sharing some details from our big day, lots of fun things going on there. Have a lovely holiday season, see you in the New Year!

Feeling Thankful

Hard to believe Thanksgiving is here again. I hope everyone is able to take a few days off from work and spend time with loved ones. Feeling thankful for all the amazing things that have happened in this past year. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Boston, you’re my home

I snuck out of Brooklyn early this year to beat the holiday traffic and made it safely back to Boston for Thanksgiving last night. It’s so nice to be back home for a few days and to spend time with family. I was feeling nostalgic for home last night and created this repeat pattern using some Boston art I had. I really think I need to make this into a wallpaper- how cute, right?

Inspiration Station: Molly Hatch

It is very challenging that one of my vendors is located about 100 feet from one of the best Anthropologie stores in the city. No matter how much I try, detours always seem to happen, purchases always seem to be made, bills always seem to come… you get the picture. So the other day when I was “passing through” the store, I saw the most amazing tea tins on display. If you read this blog, you know the way to my heart is through tea; throw in some cute hand lettering and illustration and I’m SOLD. When I got home I went on the site to find out what great talent created these little gems and it turns out the lovely designer was Molly Hatch– holy crap she is talented. After reading her blog and cruising her site for some time {also while kicking myself for not paying more attention in my college ceramics class} my design crush was fully developed and I am a new fan of all of her work! Do yourself a favor and check out her site, you can thank me later.

Spreading the love

Feeling the neighborhood love today. It’s been a weird week but things seem to be slowly getting back to normal around here. It’s so strange how a few blocks can make the difference between a flooded apartment and a totally normal existence. Keeping all the people who are still recuperating in our thoughts. Now we’re on to November folks, oh how these months like to creep right by us… Happy November!
