What I love about doing custom work is that each job presents a new challenge, design concept, color story, etc. With some jobs, we pack the envelopes full of maps, details cards, inserts, illustrations and other times, we just keep it simple. Coty and Matt’s invitation suite really illustrates just how awesome simple can be. Coty found a vintage atlas of Coastal Maryland at a flea market and used that as her design inspiration for her big day. When I looked through the atlas, the first thing I noticed was the nautical compass image everywhere. We decided to make that a central icon for her suite. The atlas also used very clean and simple fonts throughout so we wanted that reflected on her invite. The invitation is letterpress with the compass blind impressed for a more subtle nod to the nautical theme. For the RSVP card, I scanned in the cover of the atlas and rendered it a bit so it showcased the area of Coastal Maryland where the couple had their wedding. This piece was printed flat so we could use full color. We kept this suite to two pieces {invite and rsvp} and created a custom liner to help accentuate the compass on the invite.
