Inspiration Station: NSS

I had so much fun walking the National Stationery Show this year! It’s awesome having the opportunity to meet so many ridiculously talented designers. Everyone’s work is so inspiring, my creative wheels are spinning. And a huge thanks to Nole + Team for putting on an amazing Paper Party, feeling pretty lucky to work in such a great industry!

Ring of Fire: The Stamp!

I’ve blogged a few times about my love for stamps. For me, it’s the finishing piece that ties any envelope together. I awkwardly take great care when choosing stamps to put on my sample packs, etc. When it came time for my invite, I honestly lost sleep thinking about whether to do vintage stamps vs. current USPS stamps. I know, it’s weird. I almost fell off my chair when I learned that Johnny Cash will be getting his OWN STAMP this year with the USPS! Calling all Rock n’ Roll Brides: the is the stamp you want for you invites. Start getting ready, I’m very excited about this one.

Remembering

As I was walking home the other night I saw the lights from the 9/11 memorial and decided to walk down to the water to see them from the Brooklyn side. It was really an awesome site. Taking a few minutes today to remember that wild morning 11 years ago.

SCD in The Knot

Brides- have you gotten your hands on the latest issue of The Knot? It’s their Fall 2012 Issue and it’s bursting with amazing ideas, inspiration, color stories, vendors… the list goes on. I devoured it last night and my entire copy is dog eared with pages to go back and revisit. It’s great! I was so pleased to be included with their “favorite save the dates”. Our watercolor collab with Love, Jenna made the cut {in pink nonetheless!} and it looks great! I am thrilled to be a part of such a fantastic publication. Thanks to the great team at The Knot for including us!

Island Bound!

Nantucket has always been a special place for me ever since I spent a summer nannying on the island back in college. I love the beaches and the cobblestones and the whole island living lifestyle. As a wedding destination, I can’t imagine many more perfect places! I’ve done a number of fun maps and nautical save the dates for brides, but this particular couple (a Nantucket native and his bride-to-be) wanted something much more pared down. They wanted to keep a Nantucket presence but not overdo the island theme. We decided to keep it classic and soft with a watercolored island image and knock-out type for their date. I love the way the watercolor collects at the edges. I think this is such a simple way to say save the date. In other news, when I first met this couple at our initial meeting, I realized I had not only gone to college with the groom but he lived on the same floor as me Freshman year. Small world!

Lights! Camera! Blog Post!

Now, I know I’m no Annie Leibovitz but I normally take my own pictures for my blog and website. I rig up my little camera and scene and snap away. But sometimes I get lucky enough to steal a few hours with my super talented photographer friend, Susan Pittard. Susan is a fashion & portrait photographer here in NYC. She has a keen eye for detail and an excellent sense of style. Today she came over and took some fresh snaps of some new projects. Can’t wait to share a few with you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am back at my parents home to celebrate Thanksgiving with fam. It’s always so funny being back and looking through all your old things. Especially old artwork- yikes! Of course my family dog and I do our usual routine. Pretend we don’t like one another during the day then spoon at night. She’s like an ex-boyfriend in cocker spaniel form. I remember when we were younger we would get ready to watch the town football game and have to wear ridiculous layers and little heat packs in our gloves {anyone from New England can back me up on this!} to stay warm. No amount of Dunkin’ Donuts hot chocolate could heat you up. Now we have a “mild” weekend in the 60’s. How things change! I feel so incredibly grateful this year, hope you all enjoy your long weekend wherever you are!

OSBP give away!

The holidays are creeping up on us slowly but surely! I wanted to kick start the season with a holiday giveaway and who better to work with than Nole, the editor and founder of my favorite paper blog, Oh So Beautiful Paper. I will be giving away 1 custom black & white map with up to 8 illustrated locations. This makes for a creative and thoughtful gift for any friend or family member. I mean, hey- even a gift to yourself! It’s a been a long year, right? Check out Nole’s post here and enter to win! Comments close on Friday at 11:59 P.M. Good luck!!

Happy Weekend!

Another Friday rolling in, can’t complain about that! The New York City marathon is this weekend and my best bud from childhood is running. She’s a ridiculously fast runner, with several marathons under her belt I’m sure this one will be a piece of cake. Now me? I’ll be eating bagels and drinking Bloody Marys while cheering her on from the side lines. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Happy Halloween!

How great is Halloween? I love the feeling that is in the air. Now, I could have done without the snow this weekend but that is a whole different story. My parents were married 37 years ago today. A Halloween wedding, how cool is that? Keep it spooky everyone!
