SCD on Snippet & Ink

Snippet and Ink is one of the most inspired wedding blogs out there. From Kathryn’s gorgeous inspiration boards to her well edited Sunday Editions, the blog is full of clever bits and bobs that makes for an interesting read regardless of being a bride or not. Kathryn has now started her own vendor guide, Snippet & Ink Select, and has graciously asked us to be a part of it! I’m thrilled to be included on her site along with some other amazing vendors. Go have a look at all the great stuff she is cooking up. Thanks for including us Kathryn!

Cocktail Party Ideas from Oh So Beautiful Paper

All summer, Nole from Oh So Beautiful Paper has been posting different cocktail inspired party ideas in cahoots with St-Germain on her blog and I’ve been loving it! As a fan of most things libation-orientated, I welcomed the opportunity to try out a few recipes myself! Now, mix that with stationery and it’s a done deal. Nole asked me to help out with an invite design that was inspired by a “Bon Voyage” theme so we cooked up something fun to play off the great cocktails and party ideas. Read more about the inspiration here on Oh So Beautiful Paper!

Inspiration Station: London Town

I am somewhat impulsive and once I get an idea in my head, it’s hard for me to shake it. I decided that I am in need of recharging the ole’ batteries. It’s been a busy few years, I so rarely take time off to relax and “get inspired” {only an art kid can pull of that statement} and I felt the time had come to do just that. So, I booked a trip to London for early October and couldn’t be more excited! London is where this little biz started off as a seed in my mind so in a way, I feel like I’m going back to the beginning. Of course, I’ll be staying in Swiss Cottage {how meta}. I’m excited for a few days of R&R and some time to brainstorm. I’m hoping to get some new design ideas cooking. I know we have some readers in the UK, so if you have any places that you think would be great to go check out, don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you!

Fun with Outtakes

Sometimes my favorite pieces end up being the ones that don’t even make the cut at all. This little guy was part of a new project I am working on. I ended up going with a thinner style lettering for the final piece but I still love how this sheet turned out. How fun would this be as a wallpaper? There are just not enough hours in the day!

Stahs’ + Stripes

I can’t believe it’s already the fourth of July! I know I say this often by is this year flying by for everyone else? Man, I am still thinking it’s March. I hope everyone can take a few days off and enjoy the holiday weekend. I’ll be sneaking off to Asheville, North Carolina {my first time there!} to celebrate with some family and good southern BBQ. Now, go celebrate some freedom y’all.

Summer Reading: The Engagements

I love to read, it’s literally one of my most favorite things in the world to do. As much as I love what I get to do for a living, I still feel like my perfect job would be to drink tea and read books all day… possibly far fetched but I’m holding out hope. Sometimes worlds collide though and recently we were able to work with the incredibly talented fiction writer, J. Courtney Sullivan, on her wedding invites. Courtney was married last Saturday, June 22 and ironically enough, her new fiction novel “The Engagements” came out the week before. The Engagements is all about relationships, marriage, love and of course, the diamond. I was lucky enough to attend her launch party {at my favorite local bookstore- hey Greenlight!} and I bought my copy there. I’m knee deep at the moment and it’s fantastic. I certainly recommend getting yourself a copy and a beach chair as this makes for the perfect summer read. Congrats to J. Courtney on all the continued success and her new marriage!

Mini Trip: Palm Springs

There is no two ways around it- this Spring has been pretty crumby. Although I am the most pale person I know, I’m still craving some warm sun so I’m in luck as I get to sneak off to Palm Springs this weekend for a little girls trip! I’ve had several clients get married in the area so I’m excited to check it out and get inspired. Now I just need to find my SPF 70… wah wah.

Ampersand Delight

The saucy ampersand gets quite a bit of attention in the design world. There are loads of different versions of this little character and each one has such a unique personality. I have actually purchased fonts based on the fact that I like the way the ampersand looks. When a recent project called for me to bust out the watercolors and paint a few of these symbols, I welcomed the opportunity! Below are two of my favs from the project.
